Youth Gun Violence (Local 12 News Cincinnati)

CINCINNATI (WKRC) - Cincinnati Police are looking for the people involved in a gunfight downtown.

The May 16 incident spanned Downtown Cincinnati. The shooters fired dozens of rounds into a public area at around 1 a.m.

Authorities say two guns were used, and a total of 34 rounds were fired into the public streets at The Banks near restaurants and bars. Furthermore, one of the guns used that night has been used in nine separate crimes across the city in a 10-month span...

In an interview with De'Ron Smith, Cassy Arsenault of WKRC states, "De'ron Smith served time in prison for cocaine trafficking, but has now dedicated his life to helping and mentoring youth. He founded Dream Academy, which does exactly that. He mentors youth like the ones in the shooting video in hopes they get back on the right track."

“It [gun violence] does spread to other communities," Smith said. "Now, we are talking safety. We are talking communities that have probably never been touched by that. So, it is a community thing. It is a humanity thing."

If you recognize any of the people in the video or know anything about the shooting, you are urged to call CrimeStoppers at (513) 352-3040.
